GKS Katowice is preparing for European cups. The team will participate in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. In the first round, the Katowiczians will face Motherwell FC, IFK Goeteborg, Hapoel Tel Awiw, Debreczyn VSC, Zimbru Kiszyniów, CSKA 1948 Sofia, Koper, Neftci Baku, BATE Borysow, FK Sarajewo, Torpedo Kutaisi, Żilinę, Vojvodinę, Universitateę Cluj, Aluminij, Derry City, or Vestri. To reach the group stage of the UEFA Conference League, the teams must win three matches. The UEFA awards a prize of 175,000 euros for each round of the competition. This is a relatively small amount, especially considering that the cost of a trip to the periphery of the continent can reach several hundred thousand zlotys, and television income is minimal. The procedure for calculating the prize money is not straightforward. For example, in the case of promotion to the group stage of the LE and LK, the prize money for the last rounds is not 175,000, as the prize money for the promotion and the points won in the competition are already included. The most transparent prize money is in the UEFA Conference League, from which there is no relegation. If Raków and GKS lose in the second round, they will receive 175,000 euros, and each subsequent round will be 350,000, 550,000, and 750,000 euros. These winnings do not add up, the club receives the amount corresponding to the last round played. Promotion to the group stage of the Champions League is 18.62 million euros (relegation in the fourth round of the playoffs is over 4 million), the Europa League is 4.31 million, and the Conference League is 3.317. A win in the match is rewarded with 2.1 million, 450,000, and 400,000 euros, respectively, and a draw is 700,000, 150,000, and 133,000 euros. This shows how small the difference is between LE and LK, and yet in the second, theoretically, it is much easier to win points...
